LANDEN LEWIS LOOKING FORWARD TO ARCA WEST ROAD COURSE DEBUT

Mooresville, NC (June 9th, 2022) – As the ARCA RACING SERIES West hits Sonoma Raceway, many new drivers have taken to the series, including the new comer, Landen Lewis. Lewis made a name for himself with his, ARCA Series victory at Duquoin last year, and most recently his win in his series debut at Kern County Raceway Park in the West series. The 16 year old North Carolina driver will make his road course debut in the series.

His success in the full sized stock cars comes on Dirt and Asphalt with the road course being the next step. We asked Landen how prepared he was for this event and what level of excitement he had to get this call. “Wow! To be honest it all came together so quick and last minute it really hasn’t set in yet,” he said. “I am extremely excited and grateful to get this opportunity. I can’t wait to be in a full size stock car on a road course. I love road courses and think it will be a big challenge, but it will also be a blast.” He is no stranger to the winding circuits, as the Team Hornaday Development driver runs road courses in the U.S. Legend Cars International and INEX Series, as well as his training in Go Karts. But will that give the rookie a touch skills to apply on the 2.5 mile course in the heavy ARCA machine. “To be honest I am not sure…” But I do feel it has to help in some ways. When we’re out at the GoPro Motorplex, there are all kinds of drivers out there, so I hope the training will help.”

With the technology today, iRacing has offered a training and a direct learning tool to specific courses for drivers, Sonoma included. “I have been on my sim every night since I found out, and today Tyler Young was very nice to allow Ron and I to come to his shop and run on their sim.” It takes a village for sure. As the young talent grows in the sport, his networking has become one of his sharpened skills. This will be Landen’s second time working with Cook Racing Technologies and MMI. “I am super pumped to be back with Bruce and the team, we jell very well together.” In any drivers entourage, they have their tight nit group, mainly with crew in tow. Yet this is not this trip out west for Landen. “Unfortunately Billy Workman Jr and Joe Ryan won’t be able to make it as we are in our busy time of the year with the Legend Car program at Joe Ryan Racecars with the Summer Shootout at Charlotte and Thursday Thunder in Atlanta. Candice Hornaday and Ron will be there as well as Joey Coulter as my support.”

Always a calm, cool and calculated driver yet even the strongest have to plan the work and work the plan, so it was asked, what are the expectations going into the weekend event. “Honestly, I want to try and figure out the track and the shift points as quick as possible,” he said. “Then I would like run a clean race and finish all the laps.”

Landen is truly honored and feels blessed to have this land on his plate. His gratitude was beaming. “I have to thank Bruce Cook and the team for thinking about me last minute and giving me this opportunity. Billy and Tanner Prince with 19th Green and Kevin Patterson with RentSource Corporation. Candice Hornaday with Hornaday Development for getting everything put together so quickly. My family, Ron Hornaday, Joey Coulter and the entire Joe Ryan Racecars team.”

The event will air LIVE Stream on FloRacing
